Yes, I know it is Tuesday. My allergies have been something fierce lately and I can’t seem to concentrate when I sit down to write. That being said, I am going to get this up tonight. Actually, now.
Without being to elaborate, here’s what Miss E is doing this spring. We classify her as a 6th grader but she is definitely higher in things like reading, spelling, and grammar. A perhaps a tad lower in other things.
Writing/Grammar/Cursive – Grammar Workbook from Brookdale House (a middle school grammar program)
Spelling – Phonetic Zoo from Institute for Excellence in Writing (see our review)
Book Unit – finished up Sign of the Beaver; Corrie ten Boom and others in the YWAM series Christian Heroes: Then & Now (see our review of a different title)
Memory Work/Bible – Memorize Galatians from Bookdale House; reading through Matthew and focusing on Bible Bowl for Lads to Leaders
Art – Art Center Waco has a weekly art program that we attend; SchoolhouseTeachers.com has some art lessons that we will be doing periodically
History/Civics – working together with the book unit and doing Christian Heroes: Then & Now; Elections Lap-Pak from Home School In The Woods; challenges associated with geography boxes that I will be putting together; The Dragon and the Raven from Heirloom Audio (upcoming review – others we have reviewed include Under Drake’s Flag, In Freedom’s Cause, and With Lee In Virginia)
Science – Surfing the Net: Science from The Critical Thinking Company (see our review)
Math – Math Doesn’t Suck (see my review) and a geometry workbook, as well as some printable worksheets from Super Teacher Worksheets (see our review) and HelpTeaching.com (upcoming review).
Typing – SchoolhouseTeachers.com has a typing program that we will take a look at later in the spring
It seems like a lot but she seems to be doing well with it all so far. And the math has been a huge leap forward for us, which is thrilling. Of course, several of these things may change or be paused depending on what reviews we are asked to do as part of the TOS Review Crew, but that is all part of the joy of being a part of that fantastic group.

Great choices. I need to utilize Schoolhouse Teachers more. There is so much to choose from, and I was very impressed with it. Typing is something my kids need to learn.
