Art work – Rendon, Chagall, and more

We have had a fun week of art work. We are again participating in Art Center Waco‘s Cookies and Coloring activities. The girls really enjoy this weekly class, especially Miss E and Miss J. The lessons are so full and there is so much to learn. It is a weekly blessing for our family.

The class last week (Jan 22) was on Odilon Rendon and Marc Chagall. They were discussing the colors and the backgrounds of the works, along with the surrealism style. It is such a joy to hear the discussions that occur about real artwork and artists. I love having the ladies from the Art Center talking with the girls; they know so much more about art than I do!

Here is the work the girls did:

Also, Miss L and Miss J have wanted to add art back into our daily work. So, we pulled out the ARTistic Pursuits book for early elementary. We do a lesson most days of the week. It takes a piece of artwork from an artist and discusses it in relation to a specific concept or technique. It has been fun to have someone interested in art and we’ll see where it goes. For now, here’s what has been created this week:

Oh, I like ARTistic Pursuits, too! We have a couple of their books. I’m hoping we get the preschool one this year.

I like the vase picture with the purple background. Purple is one of my favorite colors.

Miss J had to ask for them to mix her some purple because they didn’t have any! She was very polite so the ladies were more than happy to make her purple – twice – for her background. 🙂

The weekly class sounds wonderful. I was always grateful for those willing to teach art in our co-ops when the kids were younger, since they were so much more knowledgeable than I. The girls did so well with their projects! Thanks for sharing this on the Virtual Fridge!
