When times are hard, where do you turn? Our lesson this morning was from Joel. And the question that keeps coming up in that book, whether specifically stated or brought to mind by the circumstances, is “what now?”
I hope that anytime you come up against a “what now?” that your answer is “lean on Jesus.” There are additional specifics, and yes, Joel addressed those. But something that helps me anytime I come up against a “what now?” is to lean on the “everlasting arms.”
Leaning On The Everlasting Arms
lyrics: E. A. Hoffman (1887)
music: Anthony J. Showalter (1887)
1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
Refrain:
Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
2. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]
3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]
