I don’t know about you but seeing the beauty of God’s earth gives me a joy that is indescribable. Seeing something of beauty reminds me that God is an amazing God. He is creative but just. Nothing remains forever. Even the beautiful flowers that we saw at lunch the other day will be gone soon. But God? His power is omnipresent. What an amazing God.
For the Beauty of the Earth
words: Folliot S. Pierpoint (1864)
music: Conrad Kocher (1838), adapted William H. Monk (1861)
For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lies:
Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise.
For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree, and flow’r,
Sun and moon, stars of light:
Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise.
For Thy church that evermore
Lifteth holy hands above,
Off’ring up on ev’ry shore
Her pure sacrifice of love:
Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise.
