‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus ~ hymn

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him! How I've proved him o'er and o'er! Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust him more!

Trust – have you ever pondered what trust fully means?

As a noun – firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something

As a verb – believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of

Now let’s look at the application of that to Christianity.

Bible verses (NKJV):

Psalm 4:5
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
And put your trust in the LORD.

Psalm 25:5
O my God, I trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
Let not my enemies triumph over me.

Nah 1:7
The LORD is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.

2 Cor 3:4
And we have such trust through Christ toward God.

1 Tim 4:10
For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

I Tim 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

When looking at all of these together, I see this theme that pulls me and wraps me in a peace. You see, the definition reminds me that my belief in the truth and strength and ability of God will see me through. The Bible verses are what the embodiment of that and the example of the truth and strength and ability of God working in the lives of His people. I see these and am comforted and strengthened, knowing God is able to be trusted. He is able to do anything which means I can relax.

That is what came to mind when I started thinking of the hymn to post for today – trust. And I can trust in God and His Son, Jesus. That leaves my life at peace.

Blessings,
Lori, At Home.

‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

lyrics: Louisa M.R. Stead
music: William J. Kirkpatrick

1 ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
and to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

2 O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood! [Refrain]

3 Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking
life and rest, and joy and peace. [Refrain]

4 I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou are with me,
Wilt be with me to the end. [Refrain]
