Have you ever needed tissue paper for an art project? I had tons of tissue paper but none the colors needed. We were making a southwest desert sunset for our Let’s Go Geography program and so we needed sunset colors. Guess what? I had tons of pink, purple, dark blue, and white. No sunset colors. So, we improvised and I LOVE how it turned out.

Our improvisation? I spread out a white piece of tissue paper and we used markers to color it the colors needed for the sunset. It worked beautifully.

So, the next time you are in a quandry and don’t want to make the run up to the store to buy a particular color of tissue paper, try coloring some.

We did that same project, and I couldn’t find much tissue paper locally. We had some pink and purple on hand at home, and I found red in town, so we used those and some yellow paper (not tissue paper). It worked!
Did you put a picture of the project up on the blog? I’ll go check and see. I’d love to see how they turned out. I thought this was such a pretty project but then, I always enjoy sunset pictures. 🙂
I would not have thought about colouring tissue paper. Good save!
Thank you.
What a great idea! You could even squirt with water and let it dry for a tye dye effect. Beautiful craft, by the way.
Ooh – tie-dye effect! I might have to try that! Thanks for the fabulous idea!
We didn’t have any sunset colors for the project either so I used what we had. Turned out okay. I like the idea of coloring it.
